Is this dog haunted? It starts singing / talking w/o no stimulation.
My 1 year old granddaughter loves to dance to the music. |

| My son is very entertained by this toy however I gave it a 4 stars because the thing is very sensitive. At the slightest touch it starts or shuts off. |

| This is the best toy I have ever purchased for an infant. My granddaughter just loved it. If she was having a bad day, it made her smile. |
One year old LOVED it!

| I purchased this cute, educational toy for a special little girl's first birthday gift. She received many other gifts at her party, but this one elicited a HUG smile and even a chuckle when she pressed the puppy's foot. Her favorite seems to be the music so far. Great toy that will hold her interest and teach her things, too. My Granddaughter has one and loves it, too, singing along with the puppy and playing pat-a-cake while it sings. :-) |
Great for my 10 month old

| I originally purchased this toy when my daughter was only 3.5 months old as her first Christmas present. She of course didn't know what to do with it but I would play the songs and sing along to them and make the puppy dance with the music and she enjoyed that. Now that she's older (almost 11 months now) she LOVES to sit and play with it by herself (or with Mommy or Daddy too). I've seen reviews about the pressure points being too sensitive but I think that's a good thing; even little babies can activate the toy and get enjoyment out of it. The songs are great, my daughter loves it when I sing along to them for her and when we're in the car I can sing them to her and cheer her up if she's getting anxious or upset (I have long since memorized them all). I think this is a great toy and a minimal investment for what I can see to be a toy with a lot of longevity. |
This Doll is Evil

This doll has a mind of its own. Because of that, I cannot recommend it.
One night (actually early morning, like 2am) while I was sleeping, this doll activated itself! It was the first time I had ever heard it and at the time, didn't know that it was this doll. Imagine how creepy it is to be in a deep sleep and all of a sudden, in a completely dark room, you are woken up by this doll saying "Peeakaboo, I see you!" Its like something out of a horror movie where a doll comes alive. I feel bad for any child who experiences this.
I have also found the comtrol buttons, which are underneath the pads on its paws, to be quite difficult to use and inaccurate. Pressing one button results in some unintended consequences.
Pass on this one.

So much more than I expected

| We bought this toy in the store for our 2-month-old and only saw a demo of what he could do. We have been so surprised at how many songs there are and how much the puppy can do. There are 2 modes, one for learning and the other for songs. Each of the hands, one of the feet, the tummy, the heart and an ear say/sing up to 3 different things in each mode. I know my son is young for the toy, but we've had it for almost 2 months now, and he is so intrigued by it - I think the blinking heart holds his interest. I'm learning lots of great educational songs as well. And I must say that the puppy's voice isn't as irritating to me as a lot of the interactive toys for children! I think this will be a toy he'll enjoy for several years still. |

| We got this laugh and learn puppy from a friend when my daughter was little over a month old. She is 6 months old now and love this puppy. She is just a sitter now and will start dancing in sitting position when we play the poems. She plays with this puppy and immediately stops crying if we turn this thing ON. Overall, I would recommend this to everyone. |

| My son received this for his 1st birthday. He enjoyed it and played with it (with us singing along too) for about 20 minute stretches. We took it on a few airplanes with us as well b/c it's loud enough that you can hear it if it's close to you but the general noise of the plane drowns out the sound for other passengers. He is 2 now and still pulls this out to play with but it doesn't keep his interest as long anymore. We can still use it to teach colors but he knows the body parts. I would probably buy again and i think an 8-9 month old would be perfectly fine w/ this toy. |

Children on the Autism spectrum not only have difficulty identifying their own body parts. But find it hard to extend that identification to Others.
This has proven to be a great patient friend showing our little daughter his eyes, ears, nose, hands, feet, etc. While also singinging and cuddling with her. Yes he has made a difference in her development. Also helping her with self initiation learning.
Parental recommendation in the great big world of autism leaning toys. |

My 14 month old daughter loves this toy, but it inevitably makes its way to the foot of my desk in the living room. After I put my baby to bed, I usually turn out most of the lights in the living room and sit down at my computer desk to do my homework. My feet inch this way and that, when suddenly I touch something soft and a creepy, "HUG ME!" shouts out of nowhere.
I have almost had a heart attack at least 5 times due to this toy. |

I bought this for my 6 month old granddaughter for Christmas. Unfortunately, it did not work at all!! But, my daughter was able to exchange it at a local store for a working model. The baby enjoyed it very much, and now, at the age of 2 years, still enjoys it.
We were disappointed that the one we ordered through Amazon did not work. |

My daughter is 6 months old and recieved this toy for christmas and loves it! She chews on his ears and laughs every time we get it out! it is all stained and worn but works like new. It is VERY anoying for us... There is a volume switch in the back that allows you to pick from two levels of volume or completly turn it off. Also one of it's feet will turn it off until that foot is pressed again, this is good for us, but frustrates the baby when she pushes it accidently. At first it was in some kind of battery saver mode where it would only play half of the songs like ABC but only to P (LOL)when we turned it off and back on this problem was solved. Overall it is great if used only periodically! At first we let her have it all the time and my husbund was ready to burn it, but now we let her play with it when we are prepared for the noise only so that no one kills it. :)

High levels of toxic compound..bromine, mercury, antimony
|
| Review Date: February 15, 2010 |
| Reviewer: BaltimoreMom, Baltimore, MD |
| Fisher Price has always been very cryptic about revealing compounds in their toys...perhaps it's because they contain toxic compounds. Go to [...] to see independent testing of this item. It is rated as dangerous due to levels of bromine, mercury, antimony. I have called FP on several occasions to find out if their toys contain BPA, phthalates or fire retardants and they have never given me a straight forward answer....just that all their toys comply with US regulation. Unfortunately, US does not regulate toxic compounds like Europe and Japan. Plus, all their toys seem to be made in China where quality control and chemical testing is terrible...hence all the recalls related to lead. |
Still one of her favored toys

NB: I don't have the version where the collar lights up but mine has red shirt with letters A-B-C repeated as a pattern.
My daughter got this for Christmas 2007, she was 10th months. She loves the songs/music and it helped her learn her alphabet and few nursery rhymes (she learnt the tune way before the letters but she still sings with her "doggy"). There is a button to switch off, low volume and high volume so little cause for irritation. The knobs in the nose and ear went after a year - understand the ear because sometimes she held it by the ear, but don't know why the nose quit. She has a lot of hugs and cuddles for him still. Actually now putting in 2nd set of batteries - and I've left it on numerous times.
I know some parents complained that the songs are interrupted by the slightest touch and that's true but I believe it has taught her cause and effect as well as patience: if one of her favourites are playing and she bounces it and it stops or changes she figured out how to get it back and she doesn't touch it until she's enjoyed her song; she knows how to get it to play again too. |

Chaotic, Random, Noisy, Confusing
|
| Review Date: February 3, 2010 |
| Reviewer: A. Johnson, Idaho |
| Got this puppy for my 24 mo. old, and have been nothing but frustrated with it. It has only one real button to push - an obvious big red plastic heart on the chest. The other "buttons" are ultra-sensitive pads on the hands, feet, ear, and in the tummy that say things like "hand", "foot", etc. Most of them also trigger silly songs, which wouldn't be too bad if it could ever get all the way through a song. But the ultra-sensitive nature of the other buttons means that any bump or movement (keep in mind 2 year old here) triggers a button, often without you realizing what got pushed. When a button gets triggerd it makes the song stop and the puppy exclaim something random like "You're my friend!" "That tickles" "Green Hand". Or you could be giving the puppy a hug, and it will be saying "Foot", "Yellow Foot", or you're carrying it down the hall and it's saying "Let's sing and play games". It's chaotic, random, noisy, confusing. And the best part is, the whole thing won't work at all if it is turned off. The on/off function is one part of the 3-part pad on the left foot. Especially with that big red "push me" plastic heart in the middle of the chest, you think my little guy can figure out that he's supposed to push the bottom portion of the left foot to make this thing turn back on, especially when he usually can't figure out that something accidentaly got pushed that turned it off? He gets bored of it quickly every time he picks it up. Very dissapointing for a supposedly "learning" toy. |
annoying, hyper-reactive, and toxic

I'll admit outright that i'm not big on battery-operated toys. I take the batteries out of almost every gift given to my 1-year-old. This toy may be one of the most annoying for the two minutes it took me to deactivate it. The voice is syrupy-sweet, downright cloying.
As many other reviews have mentioned, it's also extremely sensitive. The lightest touch makes the puppy start singing or talking. (However, for the people who like this toy except for the fact that it'll randomly start singing in the middle of the night, there is a physical off switch under the shirt in the back. Turn it off at bedtime, and your problem is solved.)
Lastly, the reason i've taken this toy away even though it has no batteries anymore: New York Public Interest Research Group found that this toy has high levels of bromine and low levels of mercury, both toxic. I didn't like seeing my kid hug and chew on this toy knowing it contains toxic elements. |

The puppy is cute and I thought would be great for my son (10 months)...but he isn't that thrilled with it. He'd rather play with other toys, definitely not his first choice.
The reason why I gave it 1 star...it is possessed! Ok, not really...but the dog will start talking at random times during the day and night. I literally have to kick it across the room to get it to stop. The itsy-bitsy spider song is now incredibly annoying.
Not recommended. There are plenty of other toys out there that could fill its shoes. |

Please read before you buy this toy!! We bought this toy and not only is this dog annoying because you have to be careful not to press other buttons, but the dog does not finish the songs. It would be a very nice toy if the dog finished a song such as the 'ABC's....this dog only goes up to the letter P.

The ADD Puppy
|
| Review Date: December 14, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Working Mom, |
| Maybe I got a dud, but we call this the "ADD puppy" because it can't get through a sentence without changing course! The buttons are on a hair trigger and as soon as you touch one it changes what it's doing. So my daughter will be holding it and listening to a song she likes and then accidentally touch another button and it says "whoops, got my toes!" and stops. You have to set it down and not touch it if you want to hear a whole song. Also, if you don't turn the switch off, it comes on totally by itself. In the middle of the night. |

My son received this puppy a few years ago, and it was always a favorite. It's songs are very cute, it is cuddly, and he found the sneeze to be very funny. He is now 4 and it is still in great shape, and hasn't hogged batteries.
The only bad thing I would say is that it is easy to bump and turn on in a crowded toybox, but it shuts itself off quickly if not touched again. |

My now 17 months twin boys got this toy at about 1 years old. They loved it then. Especially the songs. Even now they play with it many times through the day. They'll dance to Head Shoulders Knees and Toes and the I Love You song. They clap to If You're Happy and You Know It and a few of the other songs. One of my boys will randomly hug this dog tightly and walk around with it through the house. One boy learned to point to his head and toes because of this dog's games!
I only gave it 4 stars only because within a couple of days of gentle play (at 1 years old, they weren't playing rough yet), the ear no longer works. I wish it was a little more durable as far as the wire connections go. It was a gift, and I didn't have a return receipt so I could not return it unfortunately. They still love it, and I enjoy listening to the songs as well. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone looking for something both cute and educational. |

| When I first got my nephew this dog when he was 9 months old, he loved it! However, he lost interest after a month or so. Now, my nephew is 18 months old and the dog sits in his toybin. His parents find it creepy because it randomly talks without being touched. Kids find it cute, but it scares the crap out of adults. |
