Look, I'll be honest, I don't own one of these, but for all the fun I had as a kid making movies with our camcorder I'd buy this for a child in my life in a heartbeat. This gift could inspire the next Sophia Coppola. It's an amazing piece of technology and is a wonderful idea. I'm tempted to buy one for myself.

This is the worst idea Mattel ever had. With early teens getting in trouble with web cams and phone cams, parents do not want their children having internet video capability even at 13, 14 yrs., Now they put this in a BArbie doll! What an awful idea. The camera can load to a PC and video uploaded to who knows where (do not think your kids can't do that). This should be pulled from the market immediately.
No educational value, sure, fun to pretend, but real capacity for revealing videos, real possibility for abuse and accidental mis-use.
Make a Barbie reporter with a PLAY camera, that is good enough. |
